SACRED FOOTPRINTS

Plymouth, United Kingdom
March 22nd to July 1, 2005

The exhibition draws on a group of artists and photographers from Malta and across the United Kingdom, all of whom are clearly inspired by these Megalithic monuments. From Malta through the support of the Neolithia Foundation and its Director, Marie Mifsud, art was exhibited by the painter Anna Grima, the ceramicist Sina Micallef Farrugia and the photographer Daniel Cilia.

The United Kingdom was represented with photographs by Liz Ashton-Hill, Mike Hope, Ian Wood, Ken Bryan and James Smith, mono prints of Irish tombs by Colin Wiggins and at the other end of the spectrum, the mixed media of Brian Froud. Their work reflects how the Megalithic landscape continues to inspire imaginary worlds.

The architecture of Sacred Geometry was represented by work of Professor Keith Critchlow and Jon Allen. Finally, there is an examination of the ancient tradition of Stone Carriers, exemplified by the work of Caroline Keane.

The exhibiton was opened by His H.E. Michael Refalo, L.L.D. Maltese High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
